Designing Inquiry-Based Curriculum Units in Environmental Education

with Dean Goodwin and Jeannette Adkins

For all teachers
Session II

The purpose of the Institute is to train and empower teachers to become the environmental education leaders of tomorrow. Teachers will learn an effective teaching strategy, will design environmental science units for their classes, and will become energeized and ready to return to their schools to implement curricular change.

By the End of the Workshop, Teachers Will Be Able To:

  • Incorporate inquiry-based learning strategies into the classroom
  • Identify, plan, and structure a problem having environmental impact
  • Develop individual curriculum units that best suit the needs and resources of your school
  • Empower students to become more active in the learning process
  • Implement experimental design techniques
  • Apply this teaching methodology to any science discipline

Institute participants will leave with essential materials, including textbooks and numerous curricular units.
