Sunday, July 20 – Thursday, August 7, 2008

Day 1: Travel to Costa Rica. Meet with group at airport. Bus to hotel in San Jose.
Day 2: Bus to Osa Peninsula. Ecological and Cultural transect survey of Costa Rica along the way. Sleep at El Ceiba base camp.
Day 3: Meet up with Costa Rican counterparts. Reef and mangrove exploration in the morning. Town scavenger hunt in the afternoon. Dinner with Costa Rican families.
Day 4: Hike and horseback ride to the Azofeifa National Institute of Biodiversity research station. Water research in stream and river sampling sites. Historical overview of conservation and development in Tigre Watershed. Start Osa Trail Community Mapping Project. Visit abandoned goldmine, explore changing landscapes and mine gold in local stream.
Day 5: Hike to Corcovado National Park. Introduction to Park history and discussion of Park and people interactions.
Day 6: Hike to rural community of Dos Brazos del Rio Tigre. Community service activity in local elementary school in the afternoon.
Day 7: Hike and horseback to community of Rio Nuevo.
Day 8: Explore Rio Nuevo. Continue mapping project.
Day 9: Hike to Miramar Eco-lodge. Canopy exploration and zip line adventure.
Day 10: Return to El Ceiba base camp. Edit video project.
Day 11: Cultural Orientation in the morning and homestay drop offs in the afternoon.
Day 12: High School Day: Enrichment community service program in afternoon.
Day 13: Community Service Day. Enrichment service program in afternoon. Last night of homestay.
Day 14: Return to El Ceiba base camp. Edit video. Prepare for Kayak Trip.
Day 15: Kayak from Rincon to Los Mogos. Overview of Gulf of Dulce history. Study community campaign against Tuna Farm project in the Gulf of Dulce. Camp on Beach.
Day 16: Kayak to Playa Lazaro. Snorkel.
Day 17: Sunrise Kayak to La Parcela base camp. Edit Video. High School visit in afternoon. Going away fiesta at night.
Day 18: Bus to San Jose
Day 19: Depart for USA
