Dates

The E.E. Just Environmental Leadership Institute at Kimball Union Academy will be held from Sunday, July 22nd through Saturday, August 4th (14 days). The EE Just Program in Costa Rica will be held from Sunday, July 22nd through Wednesday, August 8th. Participants attending this year's Environmental Leadership Institutes will dive deeply into the issue of global warming and should choose one of the following strands:

From the Mountains – Using the KUA campus as home base, explore the effects of global warming on local and regional industries such as agriculture and tourism.

To the Sea – Travel along the New England shoreline from Maine to Mystic to see the effects of global warming on marine-based industries.

Costa Rica - Explore and investigate the effects of global warming on Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula through adventure, cultural exchange, and service to others.

Admission

We want to get to know our students before they arrive at the institute! Take a minute to complete a short application online. You also must send in a teacher recommendation before being considered for admission. APPLY TODAY! Admission to Kimball Union Academy's Environmental Leadership Institute is on a rolling basis; we will inform you by mail of your acceptance to the program and the classes of your choice as soon as we receive your application, teacher recommendation and course deposit. There is no final date for registration. Students applying after April 1 should call the Kimball Union Academy Summer Programs office to confirm availability of places in the program and classes of your choice.

Cost

Costa Rica Program: (18 Day Program) $2695 before 3/15 ($2895 after 3/15)

Institute in New Hampshire:

Tuition, room, and board: $1,800 (Apply by March 15th and pay only $1,600)

Commuters (9-5, Monday through Friday only; no room/board): $900 (Apply by March 15th and pay only $800)

We are also offering financial aid to those who demonstrate a need AND specials for Upper Valley residents. Please contact the E.E. Just Institute for further information.

Payment of Fees:

Payment may be made by check or by credit card. To apply, a security deposit of $100 must be submitted with your application. The full $100 deposit is credited to the total tuition fee. An additional $1000 is due upon acceptance to secure your place in the program of your choice. The balance of the program tuition is due April 1st. Applications submitted after April 1 must be accompanied by payment of the full tuition fee, refundable only if you are not accepted to the program. Checks should be made payable to Kimball Union Academy S.E.E. Deposits should be included with your application mailed to Kimball Union Academy S.E.E.

Students applying to our 2007 Environmental Leadership programs will explore the effects of global warming on local industries - agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, fishing, and more - through field trips, work with local experts and hands-on research!
